Architectural Manufacturing Research Network [Lecture Series 03: Jumana Hamdani] (Jan. 29th)

Overview
Urban Digital Sustainability: AI-Driven Decision-Making for Architectural Practice

Join us for Architectural Manufacturing Research Network_ Lecture Series 02 with Ayumi Mukai, architect and PhD candidate from Keio University. This lecture series is part of a collaborative initiative between ARC Centre for Next-Gen Architectural Manufacturing (Arch_Manu), Architectural Informatics Society (AIS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU).

Talk title: Urban Digital Sustainability: AI-Driven Decision-Making for Architectural Practice

Abstract: As cities face mounting pressures from climate change and urbanisation, architects must integrate advanced analytical tools to optimise design decisions across sustainability dimensions. This session explores how machine learning and artificial intelligence transform urban design practice through evidence-based approaches to environmental sustainability and community wellbeing. Examining AI-enabled studies on green infrastructure optimisation, space zoning, and public space activity prediction, participants will understand how computational methods assess environmental impacts and integrate behavioural insights into design. These emerging technologies support architects in fulfilling professional obligations to minimise resource consumption, care for the community, and advance carbon-neutral built environments while maintaining design excellence.
